3 builds in and I'm already really invested in all 3 introduced main characters. You have a real knack for hooking the audience into your narratives Nikko and I sincerely hope you manage to keep the ball rolling as you continue building on these setups you've given the routes so far. Aside from the beautiful art and well-chosen backgrounds, I've also gotta applaud the team on the sound design, I was surprised at how well it used sound and music to drive home the horror parts, as I've rarely seen furry VNs do something like that, so please, more of that!
After 3 updates of this VN I think I can further elaborate on my likes and dislikes in regards to it. To begin, this VN is advertised as a horror VN, and that is very much true at times. It's not at the same level of scariness as Echo is, but it does have scares that most VNs shy away from and I commend the creator for not pulling any punches with the horror.
The story is fairly simple in concept: In 1928, a possum named Grey is suicidal and plans it out, but is stopped from committing the act by Virgil, an enigmatic rabbit who seems quite sinister in his plans. He teleports Grey to different time periods and Grey must save other people from something.
So far in the story, we have 1960s New York and 1980s Los Angeles. Both settings are very fleshed out and feel alive in their own ways. The backgrounds are quite creative in their additions of certain aspects of these places and time periods. Two of them have made me laugh a bit out loud. Maybe I'm just easy to make laugh, so knows lmao.
The characters of this story are extremely fleshed-out and are very distinct from each other with amazing sprite artwork to bring them to life. Grey, the protagonist, is exceptionally well written and I felt attached to him by the end of the first update. And the two route choice characters currently available: Mark and Gabriel are also very well written and I love them both for different reasons. This shows extreme writing prowess and I love it. Nikko has shown a keen understanding of how to properly write characters and I personally applaud him on his efforts.
Now we move on to the art style and art itself: It's incredible. Genuinely some of the best I've seen in any VN. The fact there are so many different expressive sprites for basically every single character is insanely commendable. The amount of care and effort put into this VN shows in spades and I majorly respect anyone who works this hard on anything.
In conclusion, Burrows is a genuinely amazing VN that has insane potential to enter the ranks of best furry VNs of all times. I'm not being hyperbolic when I say this VN is very good in pretty much every aspect.
If you have thoughts on this VN, share them. I'm so damn sick of this bullshit mentality that just because someone else says things better than you, you can't put your own thoughts out there. PUT YOUR THOUGHTS OUT INTO THE WORLD! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Was expecting something more along the lines of Echo, which would also be great, but the story is building up to something I've never seen before. Interested in where this going.
Art style => Amazing. maybe some things could be refined, but that's just me being nitpicky. For example, Mark's mouth movement is a little bit odd to me. Maybe Grey's shoulders look slightly dislocated. Again, just nitpicks for the sake of nitpicks. The billboard text in one of the background images gave me a good laugh.
OST => God tier, think I am going to listen to some of these tracks while I am at work or while I read a book.
SFX => To me, this is probably the best thing in the game so far. I'm a huge sucker for VNs that use SFX properly, and boy does this project use them well. Makes everything come to life. Love love LOVE it!
Immersiveness => When I saw how much attention to detail was put in this, my jaw dropped. When Grey's sprite shrunk that one time to give the illusion of him moving towards a door in the background. More of that, please. And don't get me started on many many other things that sprites do while they are on the screen to additionally amplify their emotions and their movements based on the dialogue. Combine that with some font animations and how only the sprite that is currently talking lights up while others go dark and you get some high quality immersive experience.
Story => Not sure I am buying everything that the story is selling so far, but that's probably because we are in the "early game/setting the stage" and a lot of stuff is still vague on purpose. I assume that things will pick up the pace fairly soon and it'll become a true page-turner. The mature theme of it all and a creepy atmosphere makes the whole project very very enjoyable as well. I am so bored of the never ending number of projects that are just about generic slice of life romance stories usually with a cast of characters in high school. That's why projects like this are so refreshing and very welcome in my opinion.
Keep up the amazing work, I am definitely coming back for more!
hi here's a random thought dump about marks promo picture thingy. The one referencing son of man by Magritte.
I really like this choice of imagery to represent Mark. This of course is probably magrittes most famous paintings and has been referenced many times. Probably most notably by jojos bizarre adventure with the stand wonder of u.
I think both burrows and jojos takes inspiration and meaning from this painting in a similar way.
Magritte specifically said this about his painting-
"Everything we see hides another thing"
Behind the fruit is a man
So many details are omitted
But if you remove the fruit what's behind the man himself
The more information you seek the more there is to be found.
In jojos the wonder of u creates calamity the more he is pursued. The closer you get the more volatile things become. The only way to truely be safe is to never know of his existence in the first place.
I belive mark is similar.
The game places you in a position where you can do nothing but wonder.
You meet Mark and instantly you can see so many details of him ommited. But the more you learn you see things become more volatile
Everything you see hides another thing.
As things become more unerving it makes you wonder if you should've never looked behind the fruit
Maybe the only way to avoid calamity was to never have known him in the first place
Or maybe the creator of the vn just likes that painting and it fit mark cause he wears a cool suit lolllllllllll
Anyways that's all for my random thought dump :))))))
Burrows was a titillating experience. A complete rollercoaster of emotions all the way through. The reveal at the end made some strange interactions between the two make more sense, and was a fantastic use of dramatic irony. I'm looking forward to more, you've caught my attention. Take my money and grace my eyes with untold treasures.
It was amazing, really. I haven't felt such emotions from novels for so long. That was litteraly couple of hourse but i already fell in love with characters and their story. Art style, storytelling, atmosphere, everything is so good. Please keep it up. I know its only the beginning, but this novel already in my list of favorites.
this is amazing i just... can't, just wow i don't know how to say it im soooooooooo thrilled about what's next i just created all my question and theories im so impatient pls help me XD
Glad to finally be able to play it on android. Not sure how I feel about certain plot elements just yet since it's too early to tell where things are going (mostly regarding bnuuy), but this is really enthralling thus far and I'm loving it as a whole, the character depth (wasn't expecting to like Grey that much) and the psychological horror elements in particular.
The demo was phenomenal, and the plot is definitely immersive. It does make me want to know everything about Grey's, Mark's, Hiro's and everybody else's lives.
And Mark being a soft big guy definitely works out, though I'm interested to uncover the meaning and such behind the dream, and what the voice meant by 'Save him'... I guess it's for us to find out later on! Still, an amazing game!
It has been a while since i have been scared like this. This VN is amazing, i hope there's more updates of it coming. Btw Grey and Mark remind me of JOJO's characters for some reason!

Everything about this just feels so well executed to me. And I love Mark so much
I am loving this, the writing is so well done as well as the art. Love how some of the pictures blend flawlessly with the drawn art.

P.S. Here's my series on this VN:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLs_BZI-CHxZxDxPrcauJlOrcp1cZEA-Zh
Yep. I agree.
I was going to write some praise for this VN but you wrote it better than I could.
If you have thoughts on this VN, share them. I'm so damn sick of this bullshit mentality that just because someone else says things better than you, you can't put your own thoughts out there. PUT YOUR THOUGHTS OUT INTO THE WORLD! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Oh do fuck off dear.
wasn't expecting Gabe to be THAT likable, loved the update. Also, for how short it was, the scene by the lake made me really emotional
Gabriel is precious and I absolutely must protect him.
i like how this VN isn't afraid of taking full advantage of the social complexities of its historical setting
A surprise sure, but a welcome one.
Was expecting something more along the lines of Echo, which would also be great, but the story is building up to something I've never seen before. Interested in where this going.
man I might be spoiled by echo but it doesn't do it for me
is just the writing is so poignant and not that good
and the overly dramatic expressions kills it for me, simple expressions would have been better
overall I didn't like it as much as I hoped it would
Everyone has different tastes. It is okay if you don't like it.
Thank you, again some people think I'm saying its bad which is not
I might revisit it since it's just a small taste it might have been the character I could end up loving the other characters more.
No hard feelings. Hope you can find potential entertainment in the other routes!
i found my new favorite piece of furry art
God damn that gore scene was well drawn! Great job guys!
Absolutely love what there is so far, and Grey is so amazingly precious, can't wait for more!
going through marks part made me think mark was secretly a serial killer for so long until he talked about josh.
New reader, just finished the whole thing.

Speechless, such a good update and story in general, loved every single second of this experience, thank you.

amazing but is the blood scene will happen to mark or not? in next update
this is amazing i just... can't, just wow i don't know how to say it im soooooooooo thrilled about what's next i just created all my question and theories im so impatient pls help me XD
so playing I'm wondering where the horror is and not 2-3 dialogue bars later im like....
I did notice on the title screen, the cards shown is the dead mans hand. But it should be 8 of spades and 8 of clubs. (You have two 8s of club)
Glad to finally be able to play it on android. this is slowly climbing up my favorite vn's rank.
No romance tag but nsfw.. Hmm confusion
haven't played it (yet, downloading) but the description mentions "sexual assault" that's very NSFW and totally not romantic at all o-o
The Romance tag was actually added haha
awesome well they took notice haha
also I found the horror and the romance wowzers @__@
I LOVE THE NEW ART IN THE MENU...idk why it just gives me this sad nostalgic feeling ugh.
this is amazing this will the the next echo VN
That's a very high mark to live up to
yes but its already amazing
is there a gonna be an android version soon? i wanna play this looks neat
Our android version just dropped!
Is there an estimate on the next updates release date? Great demo btw :)
I would like to anally fornicate that possum of yours, sir.
Leave grandpa possum alone, he's like, what? 120 years old nowadays?
I don't think that possy would be that saggy though. He should still have that Wet-Ass Possy.
The demo was phenomenal, and the plot is definitely immersive. It does make me want to know everything about Grey's, Mark's, Hiro's and everybody else's lives.

I'm also incredibly enamoured by both Mark and Hiro, I can't wait to see more of them!
I have a theory that all of these people were planning to commit suicide but Virgil gave them all a second chance of sorts.
I can't help but agree.
This was insanely good demo. I love the premise.
At least that painting finally got finished.
LOOOOL
THIS WAS SO GOOD!?!?!? I am genuinely so excited for the rest of this.
man this is good, and to Virgil i do think you are pretty, just haven't decided if i should be afraid yet.
It has been a while since i have been scared like this. This VN is amazing, i hope there's more updates of it coming. Btw Grey and Mark remind me of JOJO's characters for some reason!
What? That's it?
OK, it is just a demo, but why do you do this, why do you torture us? :)
